Kunming!!

In Kunming now, had my first day of classes yesterday and ugh huge ass headache. We go from 8 – 12 then we have a 2 hour break then from 2-3 then we have an elective that switches off, tai chi, calligraphy, and the history of tea. We had Tai Chi yesterday, that was pretty fun, a lot of movements we did reminded me of TKD. We practiced it in front of this building.

Kunming is a lot cleaner than Beijing, I can actually see blue sky and sun. Every weekend we go to a touristy place, today we went to the Stone Forest and I never wanted to leave, it was made from groundwater so here is a couple pics.

Other than that I’m really liking china and the food next week starts the official classes so I don’t think ill update this till next weekend.

Beijing

So busy, last tourist day in Beijing so we packed a lot of places in, first we visited Tian’an men square, it is huge and there are soooo many people there that you can’t quite grasp how large it actually is, here is a picture walking into it,

This picture is taken in line with the giant statue of previous picture

Police transportation!

We proceeded to the Forbidden Palace which is behind the building with Mao . The forbidden palace is huge, it took three hours to walk throughthe whole complex.

So every year on September 9th (I think) theemperor would climb up this rock to ward off disaster and ruin.

Then we went to the Temple of Heaven, we just kinda walked around the grounds.

BUT, after that we went to a tea shop and tasted tea, omfg dankest tea eva.

Yea so now just chillin tomorrow hanging out and studyingfor oral exam Wednesday then we are off to Kunming, and Yunnan University where the studying begins!.

So I figured out a ghetto way to bypass China firewall, itspainfully slow but will work. I’ll try to keep this up to date.

Past few days have been pretty fun! But I am still adjustingto the time zone so I get super tired out of no where. WE went to the Summer Palace and saw Kunming lake, it was awesome. Random Chinese people keeping takepictures of me which is actually kind of fun. We took a boat across Kunming lake and to the island.

We ate at a Chinese restaurant and I got Shrimp dumplings and they tasted amazing. We also went to the silk road which is a 5 story bazaar of haggling heaven.

Next day went to the Great wall, badaling section wasovercrowded so we went to another part to the south. It was super hot and withthe haze you can’t see far into the distance

Same day we went to the ding ling tombs and went underground where the emperor was originally buried.maybe not the best photos ever taken but the firtst one is walking up to the tombs, and the second photo is inside where the Emperor was buried (in the red boxes)

First Day

Longest flight eva, 12 hours and it felt like forever, they kept showing terrible movies and i couldn't sleep so i was up the entire time. I arrived in Beijing at around 2:30 Saturday(afternoon). The airport looks amazing but ididnt take any pictures because i was going through customs. I had to wait two hours in the airport for the later group then it took us forver to elave and get to the University we are at, i saw a bunch of cool stuff on the drive, such as the "birds nest," but i was fighitng ppassing out so i didn't take pictures.

Once we arrived at the University we had a huge dinner.

Picture of outside the dorms, so many bikes and mopeds!

Here is my room, and check out the bathroom, yes the shower is right on the toilet.
